Body Positive Affirmations

Very few people are happy with their bodies–there is always someone younger with more perfect features reminding us we have no control over what we have been handed by Life. At some point we recognize that having the perfect body won’t make us happy. But we continue to beat ourselves up trying to at least lose the weight. Feeling bad about eating the Oreos won’t help. Changing your relationship with your body can lead to a more positive outlook, better enjoyment of life and ultimately better health. Body positive affirmations can help change our relationship with our bodies.

Gratitude about imperfections

Your relationship with your body is self acceptance in physical form. Accepting ourselves as we are–not comparing ourselves with others, not having to meet a cultural ideal, and instead being grateful for being alive and having the physical capacities we have is a freedom few dare to reach for. The joy and pleasure available through the body is limitless through that freedom.

There is joy in taking care of ourselves and being able to accept the good and bad about our bodies and our lives. Accepting the physical wounds we show and the wounds you can’t see that manifest in many different ways. Look in the mirror and be grateful for your own particular version of physical perfection. Recognize how your body celebrates your preferences in lifestyle and fashion that is perfectly unique to you. Remember the child inside that celebrated life without judgment.

Patience with incremental changes

With body positive affirmations your relationship with your body can gradually change over time. It can go from uncontrollable enemy to a source of pleasure and personal accomplishment. It begins with taking small steps that start to take hold and become habits over a period of time. Changes can be gradual by slowly including healthier foods in the diet and eliminating some of the foods that are not as healthy. Listen to your body as it tells you what makes you feel good. Breathe in appreciation for it and the way it supports you in your life journey in the best way it can. It deserves love just as you do.

Finding ways to exercise that fit your personal lifestyle is unique to each individual. It takes time, the willingness to experiment, and sometimes being able to accept less than stellar performance. In the end, you can reach the goal of a healthier lifestyle that includes becoming more active and avoiding excessive sedentary activities due to low energy levels. Everyone is unique and we all have different preferences in sports and activities we enjoy. Be gentle with your body and be gentle with yourself as you learn to love your body and yourself.

enjoyment of life through body positive affirmations

Enjoyment of life at all stages of change

Through body positive affirmations, self acceptance increases, more enjoyable physical activities are included in your daily life, and you will start feeling good about your body. You will feel good getting into clothes, you will enjoy exercise, you will feel more confident and enjoy sex. You will enjoy feeling the strength of your muscles. You will enjoy more healthy food, and delicious meals that are light and include enough nutrients and fiber to work with the natural rhythm of your body.

You will have a different type of relationship with the body where you listen to signals of satiety instead of becoming stuffed to the point of discomfort. Affirm your body–just as it is–and it will afford much more fun and excitement in your life than eating all you can at the all you can eat buffet. The ups and downs, bumps and lumps will make more sense and be an okay part of the bigger picture–a life where you’ve done the best you can do with what you were given and celebrated it with joyful abandon.
